I’ve taught extensively in the theory and history departments, as well as composition in the MAP and Extension Division, of The Juilliard School, working with students from a wide range of ages and musical backgrounds. In addition, I maintain a private studio of students at a high school and undergraduate level. Testimonials

Mr. Frisch is a wonderful teacher and a great mentor. We have known him for five years, as he was a music theory and composition teacher for both our girls. He was Nicole's first music theory and composition teacher; he impacted her so much that she is now majoring in composition in the Columbia-Juilliard program. He is always approachable and ready to help his students and parents, and we have been so happy to have a teacher like him: smart, caring, intelligent and knowledgeable. He makes everything so easy, understandable and less stressful, and even we wanted to be his students! We highly recommend him to everybody who wants to open a beautiful world of music and composition.

Simon is everything you would like in a teacher: supportive, encouraging, and patient, but also challenging and inspiring. My son looks forward to his lessons in music composition every week, and it's been a joy to see his love and knowledge of it increasingly grow. Simon supports and guides his students with structure and technical instruction, while also providing the flexibility and space for the student to thrive creatively. Would highly recommend!
