About the Festival

In 2014 I founded Festival Daniou, a summer chamber music series, with colleagues from The Curtis Institute to bring high-quality music and new voices in composition directly to the heart of my family’s community in Brittany, France. Between 2014 and 2018, we brought an international roster of musician colleagues to offer dozens of concerts in different areas and venues, featuring the European or world premieres of 15+ works by young American composers while raising money and attention through these events for the restoration of local landmarks and in support of cultural projects. In addition to the generous support of our American and French sponsors, our regular partners included L’Art au Fil de la Rance, BZH NY, the Galerie Vue sur Mer, the Association Chapelle Saint-Buc, and the many mayor’s offices of cities in our area.

Along the way we worked on a range of collaborations and community outreach projects, including popup performances in the annual On Zoute gallery festival in Dinard, concerts for the centenary of songwriter Léo Ferré at his former residence, the Île du Guesclin, in 2016, and headlining the 2016 Fête de la Bretagne in New York.
